First, a tremendous thank you to everyone who voted and helped sculpt Goddess Awakening to completion!
As you know, Goddess Awakening was a writing experiment where readers could influence the outcome of the story. It was meant to be six chapters long and each chapter coming out once per week. I had never tried anything like this before and I was equal parts excited and worried. I didn’t know what to expect and that was part of the spark to keep going with it.
The book and experience came out better then I ever expected. At the end of each chapter, there were a question or two, asking for votes on what would happen. The votes helped influence the story and I was pleasantly surprised on the many decisions made through out the experiment. I would go into further detail of each decision, but I’m afraid it would spoil it for new readers. Let’s just say, there were a number of surprises that I didn’t expect and they really added to the story. It added such layers that even I wanted to know what would happen next and I was writing it!
The experiment was not all delicious choices and wild adventures. Writing a long chapter every week, going over it with a fine-toothed comb, and making the Thursday deadlines made me manic and filled with worry. I knew in my heart it was something I had to complete and carried on because if I didn’t, I would have fallen into a deeper pit of despair.
To be clear, I’m not speaking to this to garner any sympathy, just telling what I went through to help get here. I really wanted to the story to be dark, interesting, sexy, and filled with Alice in Wonderland adventure.
Aside from events in my personal life, I truly enjoyed all the votes, messages, and comments to help guide the story. Even if it was just one silent vote, or small message, all were welcomed and considered to bring a deeper life to the story. For that, I thank you with all my heart.
What happens next?
The book has been put together and sent to my ARC readers. I plan to start the process of publishing late Wednesday (4/18) and have the book published for all on 4/19!
There is a 7th chapter that was added to the final book. I hope you enjoy it.
